Humanitarian aid and journalism on the front lines of conflict zones

Josep Antoni Pujante

Director of International Relations and Health Cooperation of the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia.

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the UB, he decided on neurosurgery and emergency surgery at the Hospital Clínic. Diploma in International Relations (UAB) and General Management (IESE, University of Navarra). He has different master’s degrees from the most prestigious international universities in Hospital Management, Senior Management, and International Law. Doctorate in Diplomatic Relations (UAB) and Doctor Honoria Causa from the University of Moctezuma, Mexico.

President of the Barcelona International Panathlon and collaborator of the WHO (World Health Organization). Member. He is a member of the International Parliament (1998-2015) and holds a diplomatic passport. He has traveled to 128 countries and has participated in numerous diplomatic and humanitarian missions. He is a member of the Humanitarian Aid and Emergencies Committee.

Boniface Mwani

Kenyan political photojournalist and activist involved in socio-political activism (TBC)

 He is known for his images of the post-election violence that affected Kenya in 2008. In 2005 he won his first photography awards and subsequently received international recognition as one of Africa’s most promising photographers. He was awarded the CNN Africa Photojournalist of the Year Award in 2008 and in 2010 Mwangi developed a strong stance on Human Rights in his work to fight impunity (political and corporate), speak out against bad and corrupt political leaders and promote a message of peace with initiatives called MaVulture and Team Courage ( Nairobi-based lobby of citizen movement to build a new Kenya)

 

Raúl Gallego Abellán

Renowned Associated Press reporter

Renowned Associated Press reporter who works with video, although he is also a photographer, he previously worked at TV-3. He has been recognized with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Broadcast Journalism Awards in the US for an online series about the war in Afghanistan and the Royal Television Society in London in the category of best camera of the year in 2010. In 2005 he received the second Fotopress Spain prize.

He has covered conflicts in different parts of the world. He has been the director of a documentary about the Republic of Macedonia (currently North Macedonia) and several documentaries about the conflict in Afghanistan. He has also published his photographs in various books and magazines. He has received many awards for his work.
